Youth in care may need in home health care because of their medical conditions or symptoms.  This care could include special procedures, equipment devices and higher level of health care monitoring.  The Resource Parents who care for these youth are highly trained in the youth’s medical needs, reporting, documentation, medication management and emergency procedures. They are active members of the youth’s treatment team and provide them with optimal care during their time in foster care.

Resource families will have the support of the Agency Registered Nurse in addition to the Agency Social Worker.  Additional members of the medical care team may be involved based on the needs of the youth.  Resource Parents receive additional training from The Heart Matters as well as any additional training specifically related to the care of the youth. This program is always in need of professionals with medical training and experience, who would like to provide care to youth with specific healthcare needs.
